ACCEPT A GRANT FROM THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA,
DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION, DIVISION OF
BOATING AND WATERWAYS IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED
$80,000 FOR THE PURCHASE OF A PATROL BOAT AND BOAT
TRAILER; APPROPRIATE UP TO $80,000 FROM THE GENERAL
FUND TO PURCHASE SAID PATROL BOAT AND BOAT TRAILER;
AND AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER, OR HIS DESIGNEE TO
EXECUTE GRANT FUNDING AND PURCHASE AGREEMENTS
NECESSARY TO OBTAIN REIMBURSEMENT FOR BOTH
EXPENDITURES
WHEREAS, the City of Alameda Police Department, applied to the State of
California, Department of Parks and Recreation, Division of Boating and Waterways for
grant funding for costs of purchasing a new harbor patrol boat and trailer; and
WHEREAS, the State of California, Department of Parks and Recreation,
Division of Boating and Waterways has notified the City of Alameda Police Department
that the Department is approved to receive funding in an amount not to exceed $80,000
for the purchase of a new harbor patrol boat and trailer; and
WHEREAS, in order to accept the State of California, Department of Parks and
Recreation, Division of Boating and Waterways grant allocation, the City Council must
authorize the City Manager or his designee to enter into an Agreement with the State of
California, Department of Parks and Recreation, Division of Boating and Waterways to
accept the allocation in an amount not to exceed $80,000; and
WHEREAS, the State of California, Department of Parks and Recreation,
Division of Boating and Waterways grant allocation will be disbursed to the City of
Alameda as a reimbursement following the City's appropriation of the purchase costs
and the execution of any agreements necessary to acquire the patrol boat and boat
trailer
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ALAMEDA THAT:
1. The City Manager or his designee is authorized to execute an Agreement with
the State of California, Department of Parks and Recreation, Division of Boating and
Waterways, to accept a grant from the State of California, Department of Parks and
Recreation, Division of Boating and Waterways in an amount not to exceed $80,000 for
the purchase of a patrol boat and boat trailer; and
2. An appropriation of up to $80,000 from the City's General Fund to purchase
said patrol boat and boat trailer is hereby authorized; and
3. The City Manager, or his designee, shall negotiate and execute the grant
funding and purchase agreements necessary to obtain reimbursement for the costs of
acquiring the patrol boat and boat trailer and for the implementation of this resolution.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and
regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the City of Alameda in a regular
meeting assembled on the 6th day of January, 2015, by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Daysog, Ezzy Ashcraft, Matarrese, Oddie
and Mayor Spencer — 5.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
ABSENTIONS: None.
