The Street Superintendent presented a report showing that the work of grading,curb- ing,macadamizing and otherwise improving Versailles Avenue from Calhoun Street to San Jose Avenue done by Hutchinson Company under private contract had been completed in accordance with the plans and specifications therefor and to his sa,' f• ction. Ordered filed. A petition was received from property owners on Elanding Avenue between kark And Oak Streets requesting g that the said street he graded ,curbed macadamized &c. Mr.Christensen offered the following resolution and moved, its adoption: Resolved that the public interest and convenience require aT that jt is the inten- tion of the Council of the City of Alalneda to order the following street Viork to be done in said city,namely: That the western hall of Court Street between the southern line of Lincoln Avenue and a right line 150 feet right angular measurement southerly from and par• allel with said southern line of Lincoln Avenue be improved as follows : That said portion of said street be graded to the official grade ;that concrete curbing,e.ght inches by four- teen inches in cross section dimension,be constructed in said portion of said street on the curb line of the roadway thereof between said lines,2 inches above official curb grade ;the a cement grouted rock g1tter,3 feet in width, of the flat pattern,he constructed in said por- tion of said street between said line and contiguous to said curb;that the remaining por- tion of the roadway of said portion of said street between said lines be macadamized with a layer of broken trap rock C inches in thickness.. A petition was received from residents of the neighborhood of Everett Street end Railroad Avenue complaining of an alarm bell located at that point and maintained by the 'Railroad Company, that the constant ringing of the sane was a nuisance and requesting; tho Council to take steps to abate the sane, ISr.T.Toy moved that the 7.ailroad Company be requested to remove the said bell and replace it with either a sona'phore or a flagman, seconded by hi Bullock and carried.
