TUESRLY EVENING, JUNE 17TH, 1919.
The meeting convened at 8:25 p. m. with Council—president Otis presiding.
The roll was called and Councilmen Latham, Noy, Probst and President Otis,
were noted present. Absent: Councilman Majors, (1).
The minutes of the regular meeting of June 3rd were approved us read.
The minutes of the adjourned regular meeting of June 10th were approved as read.
0 Mr. Probst introduced the foilowing Resolution and moved its adoption:
"Resolution No. 224.
Transferring 465.17 From Local Improvement Fund
No. 24 to the General wund."
Mr. Noy seconded the motion to adopt the Resolution and on roll call it was adopted
and passed unanimously.
2. / Mr. Latham introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption:
nEesolution No. 225.
Transferring 0902.13 from the General Fund to the
Electric Light Fund."
Mr. Probst seconded the motion to adopt the Resolution and on roll call it was adopted
and passed unanimously.
The following were received:
The continuation certificate on the bond of E. J. Simon. Ordered filed.
The Auditor's Balance Sheet for the month of May, 1919. Ordered filed.
The following communications were received:
0 From W. H. Larnan, Solicitor for the Post Office Department, replyir
protest made against the increase in telephone rates. Ordered filed.
4. From Barnes & Tibbitts Shipbuilding and Drydock Company, protesting againet
the 15° delinquency added to their tax bills. 1;r. Probst moved that it be referred.
to the City Manager to procure a statement from Tax Collector Lubbock and to report
back at the next meeting of the Council, seconded by Mr. Noy and carried.
5. / From Walter H. Cramer, re q uesting the renewal of :o is contract for the
auditing of the books and accounts of the City of Alameda at a monthly remuneration
of :5.00, 020.00 of this amount to be --)aid by the Municival Electric Light Plant.
Er. Latham moved that the contract be renewed as -oer the terms of the letter, second
ed by Mr. Probst and on roll call carried unanimo

operate a long range shooting gallery. Mr. -Probst moved that the re q uest be
granted, provided that no shooting occur after 9 o'clock p. m., and provided, further,
that the -oermit be revocable at the pleasure of the Council, seconded by Tr. Noy
and Carried.
7. vi From peter Piazza, requesting a gratuitous license to peddle potatoes raised
by himself, and fro Mary Smith, to sell notions to customers in the City of Alameda.
As the same were endorsed by the Chief of Police and the City Manger, Hr. Latham
moved tiiat the reci nests be granted, seconded by Mr. Probst and on roll call carried
a=imously.
Mr. . Lathii moved that the Council meet as a Committee of the Whole, 7zriday
June 17th, 1919.

came up for pass- 'e. Mr. Latham moved that the word "Encinal" in Section 1, describing
Fire Limits No. 2 be changed to TCentraJr and that in Section 3 the word "privatetr
be added between the words "except" and "garage", seconded by Mr. Probst and carried.
Mr. Latham then moved that the Bill as amended be adopted, seconded by Mr. Noy and
on rell.call carried unanimously.

Mr. Latham moved that the bills as listed be paid, seconded by Mr. Noy and on 'roll call
carr±ed unanimously.
9. Council-president Otis Stated that a reuest had been made to hold a political
meeting in the Council Chamber, Tuesday evening, June 44tn. Mr. Probst moved that
permission be granted and that the City Attorney investigate the legal aspects of
holding future meetings, seconded by Mr. Latham and carried.
10. / Mr. Probst called attention to the unsightly condition of the water hole between
the Southern Pacific Tracks and the main land at the westerly end of Central Avenue
and moved that the City Manager take up the matter withthe Southern Pacific Company
with e, view of having the same filled, seconded by Mr. Latham and carried.
11. v7 Mr. Probst moved that when the Council adjourn it adjourn in respect to the memory
of the late E. J. Bevan, seconded by Mr. Latham and carried.
