APPOINTING THUY NGUYEN AS A MEMBER OF THE
RENT REVIEW ADVISORY COMMITTEE
WHEREAS, Thuy Nguyen, as a housing provider, was appointed to the Rent
Review Advisory Committee on March 17, 2009 and has served continuously thereafter;
and
WHEREAS, prior to the adoption of Ordinance No. 3132 on September 1, 2015,
which Ordinance became effective on October 1, 2015, membership on the Rent Review
Advisory Committee, the member's terms of office and the member's duties and
responsibilities had not been codified in the Alameda Municipal Code; and
WHEREAS, such has now been codified in Section 2-23 of the Alameda Municipal
Code; and
WHEREAS, Section 2-23.2 of the Ordinance now provides that the Mayor shall
nominate, and the City Council shall appoint, members to the Rent Review Advisory
Committee and sets forth the term of office for members so nominated and appointed;
and
WHEREAS, due to the experience that Ms. Nguyen has as a member of the Rent
Review Advisory Committee and the number of rent increase disputes that are likely to
come before the Committee in the next few months, it is in the public interest for her to
continue to serve on the Committee for a term of two years.
BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Alameda that pursuant Alameda
Municipal Code Section 2-23.2, and upon nomination of the Mayor, Thuy Nguyen, as
housing provider, is hereby appointed to the Rent Review Advisory Committee of the City
of Alameda commencing October 20, 2015, and expiring on June 30, 2017, and to serve
until a successor is appointed and qualified.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and
regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the City of Alameda in special meeting
assembled on the 171h day of November, 2015, by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Daysog, Ezzy Ashcraft, Oddie and Mayor
Spencer — 4.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: Vice Mayor Matarrese —1.
ABSTENTIONS: None.
