APPROVING ADMINISTRATIVE CORRECTIONS TO BETTER
REFLECT CURRENT MEDICAL CONTRIBUTION RATES, DENTAL
PLAN MODIFICATIONS, TO UPDATE LANGUAGE CHANGES
RELATED TO THE PUBLIC EMPLOYMENT PENSION REFORM ACT
(PEPRA), AND TO LIST SPECIFIC UNIFORM RATES TO THE
MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING (MOU) BETWEEN THE
INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF FIREFIGHTERS, LOCAL 689
(IAFF) AND THE CITY OF ALAMEDA FOR THE PERIOD OF
NOVEMBER 1, 2015 THROUGH DECEMBER 18, 2021TO
MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING (MOU) BETWEEN THE
INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF FIREFIGHTERS (IAFF), LOCAL
689 AND THE CITY OF ALAMEDA FOR THE PERIOD COMMENCING
NOVEMBER 1, 2015 AND ENDING DECEMBER 18, 2021
WHEREAS, on April 29, 2015, the City Council adopted a resolution approving a
Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the International Association of
Firefighters (IAFF), Local 689 and the City of Alameda; and
WHEREAS, the City and the IAFF recognized the need to work collaboratively to
address, among other things, Other Post Employee Benefits (OPEB) also known as
lifetime medical benefits; and
WHEREAS, the former City Manager acknowledged at the time of adoption the
MOU being approved by the City Council in April 2015 might be subject to administrative
correction and require further amendment; and
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Alameda has fully examined these
administrative corrections to the MOU, a copy of which is on file in the Office of the City
Clerk, and thereby finds and determines adoption of said documents to be in the best
interest of the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Alameda
that said Council hereby approves and adopts said revised MOU; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the provision of this Resolution shall supersede
any other Resolution in conflict herewith.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and
regularly adopted and passed by the City Council of the City of Alameda in a regular
meeting assembled on the 151h day of December, 2015, by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Daysog, Ezzy Ashcraft, Matarrese, Oddie
and Mayor Spencer — 5.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
ABSTENTIONS: None.
