AMENDING THE CITY OF ALAMEDA POLICE OFFICERS
ASSOCIATION, NON -SWORN UNIT (PANS) SALARY SCHEDULE
EFFECTIVE DECEMBER 11, 2016 TO REINSTATE THE ANIMAL
CONTROL OFFICER CLASSIFICATION, UPDATE THE HOURLY
WAGE TO ACCOUNT FOR NEGOTIATED SALARY INCREASES,
AND APPROVE A WORKFORCE CHANGE ALLOCATING ONE
FULL -TIME ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER POSITION TO THE
POLICE DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, in order to meet the City's need for Animal Control Services including
responding to stray animal calls, transporting animals to the shelter, and providing field
enforcement of animal control laws; and
WHEREAS, the position of Animal Control Officer was eliminated from the
Alameda Police Officers Association, Non -Sworn Unit (PANS) Salary Schedule when
the City and Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter (FAAS) entered in to an agreement
for FAAS to provide animal shelter services within the City of Alameda; and
WHEREAS, there is now a need to amend the Alameda Police Officers
Association, Non -Sworn Unit (PANS) Salary Schedule effective December 11, 2016 to
reinstate the Animal Control Officer classification, adjust the salary to reflect negotiated
increases, and approve a workforce change allocating one full -time Animal Control
Officer position to the Police Department;
NOW, THERFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Alameda that
the salary resolution of the Police Officers Association Non -Sworn Unit (PANS) is
hereby amended by establishing the salary rates, salary range, salary steps and
benefits .for the classification of Animal Control Officer and designating these as
applicable to these classifications in the service of the City.of Alameda.
