Resolution 15453CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. 15453 AMENDING THE FISCAL YEAR 2018-19 GENERAL FUND BUDGET OF THE CITY ATTORNEY'S OFFICE TO APPROPRIATE THE REMAINING $400,000 FOR TENANT LEGAL SERVICES WHEREAS, as part of the Mid-Cycle Budget process, the City Council allocated $500,000 of the General Fund monies to the departmental budget of the City Attorney's Office, and appropriated $100,000 of those funds in anticipation of funding the first year of a three-year pilot project to provide legal services to low-income tenants; and WHEREAS, at City Council direction, City staff issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) to secure an organization to provide the legal services, conducted the selection process, and ultimately recommended that the City Council approve a three-year, $500,000 agreement with Centro Legal de Ia Raza (Centro Legal) to provide those services; and WHEREAS, the Council has considered the report and recommendations of the Interim City Manager on the reasons for the budget appropriation and has determined that the budget appropriated is both fair and appropriate; and WHEREAS, this appropriation ensures that the City of Alameda has exercised prudent judgment in its fiduciary responsibility as guardian of the public tax dollars. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Alameda that budget amendment to the City Attorney's Office's Fiscal Year 2018-19 budget is approved to increase appropriations by $400,000 to provide for the remaining funding already committed from the General Fund monies for tenant legal services. ****** I, the undersigned, herby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the City of Alameda in a regular meeting assembled on the 7th day of November, 2018, by the following vote to wit: AYES: Councilmembers Ezzy Ashcraft, Matarrese, Oddie, Vella and Mayor Spencer-5.
