Resolution 15505CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. 15505 APPROVING WORKFORCE CHANGES TO ADD ONE NEW POSITIONS TO THE FIRE DEPARTMENT FIRE PREVENTION BUREAU EFFECTIVE MARCH 6, 2019; ONE FIRE MARSHAL AT THE DIVISION CHIEF RANK WHEREAS, at the start of Fiscal Year 2009-10, in response to declining revenue and in order to achieve a balanced budget, the City made significant cuts in staffing throughout the organization, including reducing the Fire Prevention Bureau from seven positions (four sworn and three non-sworn) to two non-sworn positons; and WHEREAS, on April18, 2017, the City Council reinstated the Fire Prevention with addition of one Fire Captain position and two Fire Inspector positions at the Firefighter or Apparatus Operator rank in order to provide necessary Fire Prevention Services including maintaining records, inspecting buildings, providing fire education, issuing and enforcing code violations, and reviewing plans; and WHEREAS, there is a need to provide management and oversight for the Fire Prevention Services Division; and WHEREAS, to meet service demands related to the Fire Prevention Bureau, the Fire Department recommends that the City Council add one Fire Marshal position at the Division Chief rank. NOW, THERFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Alameda that the following workforce change is approved and that the City's authorized positions are so modified: Alameda Fire Department a.
