AMENDING THE SALARY SCHEDULE AND APPROVING
WORKFORCE CHANGES IN FISCAL YEARS 2019-20 AND 2020-21
WHEREAS, in order to ensure that the City has a workforce that is appropriately
allocated, classified and compensated, changes are proposed as part of the Biennial
Budget for Fiscal Year 2019-20 and Fiscal Year 2020-21 budget; and
WHEREAS, in order to support program growth, including the addition of six new
firefighter positions to staff a new ambulance, 12 new positions are recommended in the
Fiscal Year 2019-20 and four new positions are recommended in Fiscal Year 2020-21
budget; and
WHEREAS, as the result of changes in department operations or loss of grant
funding it is recommended to delete five positions in Fiscal Year 2019-20 budget; and
WHEREAS, in order to ensure positions are correctly allocated based on the
work being performed it is recommended to upgrade eight positions and downgrade
three positions in Fiscal Year 2019-20 Budget ; and
WHEREAS, in order to ensure job titles reflect the duties of the position it is
recommended to retitle four positions.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of
Alameda that the workforce changes as outlined in the Recommended Workforce
Changes spreadsheet attached to the budget and any modifications to the salary
schedule are approved resulting in:
• 12 new positions in 2019-2020
• The upgrade of eight positions,
• The downgrade of three positions,
• The deletion of five positions and
• The retitling of four positions in Fiscal Year 2019-2020
• An increase four positions in the Fiscal Year 2020-2021

I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and
regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the City of Alameda in a regular
meeting assembled on the 18th of June, 2019, by the following vote to wit:
A YES: Council members Daysog, Knox White, Oddie, Vella and
Mayor Ezzy Ashcraft-5.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
ABSTENTIONS: None.
