AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO APPLY FOR AND ACCEPT
UP TO ONE HUNDRED SEVENTY-FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS
($175,000) IN CALRECYCLE RUBBERIZED PAVEMENT GRANT
PROGRAM FUNDS FOR WORK UNDER THE PAVEMENT
MANAGEMENTPROGRAM,PHASE39
WHEREAS, the City's Pavement Management Program, in combination with the
City's Maintenance Service Center, works to maintain the over 125 centerlines miles of
· roadway providing access and circulation to every resident and business in Alameda; and
WHEREAS, the City is scheduling work for up to 96 streets, totaling approximately
17 miles for phase 39 with a reduced budget of $2.6M; and
WHEREAS, the grant offered is for rubberized chip seal projects that will use
California-generated waste tires that were recycled/processed in California and the phase
39 project exceeds the minimum area of 40,000 square yards of this material; and
WHEREAS, if the City applies for and accepts Cal Recycle's grant to supplement
funding, at a maximum of $175,000; a portion of the original scope of services can be
restored with the additional monies.
NOW THEREFORE, BE iT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Alameda that
the City Manager is authorized to submit an application to CaiRecycle rubberized
pavement grant program in an amount not to exceed $175,000; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that, if awarded the grant funds, the City Manager
is authorized to accept up to $175,000 and to use the funds for the Pavement
Management Program, Phase 39 (Capital Project 9601 0); and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is authorized to execute all
necessary documents to implement and carry out the purpose of this resolution.

assembled on the 15th day of October 2019, by the following vote to wit:
