APPROVING A WORKFORCE CHANGE IN THE RECREATION AND
PARKS DEPARTMENT TO CREATE A NEW CLASSIFICATION,
RECREATION ASSISTANT; ADD ONE POSITION, RECREATION
ASSISTANT, AND AMEND THE ALAMEDA CITY EMPLOYEES
ASSOCIATION (ACEA) SALARY SCHEDULE TO ADD THE
CLASSIFICATION OF RECREATION ASSISTANT, EFFECTIVE
JANUARY 19, 2020.
WHEREAS, The Recreation and Parks Department will be assuming
responsibility for the City's Fourth of July Parade; and
WHEREAS, The planning, coordination and oversight of this special event will
require a significant number of staff hours; and
WHEREAS: The current staffing level in the Recreation and Parks Department
cannot absorb the additional workload needed to coordinate a successful and safe Fourth
of July parade;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of
Alameda that the Salary Schedule is hereby amended, as shown below, effective
January 19, 2020 to establish the salary rates, ranges, salary steps and benefits for the
classification of Recreation Assistant, designating these as applicable to this
classification in the service of the City of Alameda.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Council of the City of
Alameda that said Council hereby approves the addition of one new Recreation Assistant
position in the Recreation and Parks Department funded by the General Fund.

meeting assembled on the 7th day of January 2020, by the following vote to wit:
