Governor Earl Warren of the State of California has proposed that, as a gesture of good will on the part of the people of this State, the Cali- fornia Maritime Academy Training Ship "Golden Bear" be this year sent to Europe rather than to South America on her annual training cruise, and that she carry as a gift of the people of the State of California, to the pooples of France, Greece and Italy, food and clothing so badly needed by those peoples; and WHEREAS, the Alameda Junior Chamber of Commerce, together with other organizations throughout the State, has been invited to assist in the collection of the Gift Ship's cargo and has accepted such invitation and is now actively engaged in that campaign; I T11,"REPORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL Of,' T.11E' CI'1.Y OF' ALAJ1\,1._EDA N OW I I that it does hereby endorse and corunond the. Governor's Gift Ship Project as one entirely worthy of the generous people of this State ;and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the people of the City of Alameda be, and they are hereby, urged and requested to assist the Alameda Junior Chamber of Com- merce and other organizations engaged in the campaign to load the "Golden Bear.'' I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularlg introduced and adopted by the Council of the City. of Alameda in regular meeting assembled ori.the6th day of January, 1948, by the following votes to wit: AYES: Councilmen Anderson, Osborn, Sweeney and President Branscheid, (4).
