has been one Gf the City's MaSt loyal and civic -minded citizens who has earned ..he respect and
friendship of many by his inLegrity and warmhearLed personality.
hi7ERE10, Air. Howe was appointed as a member of the Civil Service Board of the CiLy of
Alameda by RescLution No. 2487, adopted june 18, 194U; and
AHEREAS, Mr. Howe resigned from this Board on May 6, 1941, La accept immediate appoiMment
as a Councilman of the City of Alameda, by adoption of ResnluLion Co. 2583 and then, at the nexL
General Municipal Election held March 9, 1943, Ar. Howe was elected to the City CounciL for a four-
year term which he completed in April, 1947; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Uwe was next appointed to MEmbership on the Board Q Education of the CiLy
of Alameda by Resolution No. 4293, adopLed December 19, 1950, in which post he has served continu-
ously until June 30, 1962; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Note has faiLhEully and diligently parLicipaLed in the responsibilities of
thesc several important positions and has contributed generously of his tine and experience 0-i
civic and Church acLivities for the de%lapment and improvement of the City of Alameda.
NOW, PEREFORZ, BE IT RESOLVED, Lhat the Council of the City of Almneda, being fully cog-
nizanL of the long perlcd of nMable serviLe rendered by Mr. Rowe, does hereby express its great
esteem and appreciation for his devoLion on behalf of the City.
Bd IT FWREHER RESOLVED, that the City Clerk transmiL a certifiod copy of Lhis resolution
to Mr. Walter V. Howe as a token of graLiLude from Lhe City Council of the City of Alameda, 001
its felicitations for his cominued good health and happiness.
