RESOLUTION M. 3036
RECULiTINC OUTSIDE OCCUPATIONS OF CITY E&LOYEES
OF THE CITY OF ZnAEDI'i
WFEREAS, certain employees of the City of Alameda have made a
practice, and do now make a practice, of engaginF in various and sundry occupations
and businesses in their spare time and while not on duty with the City; and
WHEREAS$ it has becone necessary and desirable that as policy as to wich
outside occupations and businesses engaged in by City eiployees should row be
established by the Council of the City of Alameda;

(a) No full the snployee of the City of Alameda shall enter any
employnent outside of re ular duties or establish any business that will in
either case reqnlro him to work in regular employment more than eight (C) hwirs
per week during his off-duty period. Such outside business, or work for others,
aside from his regular duties with the City of Alameda, as 11nited above, Is
subject to authorization of the Appointing A"thority and will be allowed only
under the provisions that:
(1) Such outside work, or business does not interfere with lets
efficiency In performing his reEular duties.
(2) Such outside work, or business, does not prevent h!T fra
reapondinF to orders from an Appointing Authority to perform overtime wank.
(3) Such outside work, or business, does not occasion discredit
upon or create embarrassment for the City government.
(b) The City Manager is hereby authorized to modify the foregoing
provisions and to establish oich further rules and regulations with reference
to the foregoinE as, in his opinion, may be necessary and desirable.
