UN WHICH SANTA RITA REHABILITATION CENTER IS LOCATED
WMEAS, the County of Alnmeda, State of Cc.. from 19Q6 to the
oresent time, has onerated a rehabilitation center known ss Santa Rite Rehabili-
tation Centcr, California, on the Navnl heservation formerly known as Camp
Shoemaker, California; and
MAMAS, said rehabilitation center has been of vital service to the
City of Alameda and the other comm-anitfes of Alameda County; and
WHEREAS, said 0val Reservation consists of apuroximately 3,000 acres,
of which said rehabilitation center occupies only apDroximately 100 acres which,
could be separated from any vroposed future activatAon of the Xnval heservation;

WMENS, the Department of the Air Yorce has declared its intention
to reoccupy the comnlete aforesaid Naval Reservation;

Lhnt the City of Alameda respectfully reqnests thut More any final decision
be made to oust the County of Alaneda from the Camp Shoemaker heservaLion that
the Department of the Air Force sK a Lime and Mace for a public hearing in
order that the City of Alameda and other interestod nublic bodies may show cause
why the SaMa Riha hahaMitation Center should be continued to be operated st
its present site by the County of Alameda, California.
