Resolution 04833RESOLUTION NO. 4833 REQTT;,3S'T!N1C:r STATE OF CALIFORNIA, DEPkRTNENT OF PUBLIC WORKS, DIVISION OF HI(,-rFPTAYS.,, TO LEAVE IN PLACE 71'111,' SOUTH ABUTMENT OF OLD 2AY FARM !SLAND BRIDGE FOR USE ----------------- AS A FISHING PIER WHEREAS, State of California, Department of Public Works, Division of Highways, has recently completed construction of a bridge known as the "New" Bay Farm Island Bridge, on State Highway Route 226, to replace the "Old" Bay Farm Island Bridge over San Leandro Bay, in the City of Alameda; and WHEREAS, said Division of Highways has a contract under way for the removal of the superseded "Old" Ba7 Farm Island Bridge, including the south abut- ment; and WEEREAS, it is the desire of this Council that the south abutnent of the "Old" Bay Farm Island Bridge be left in place for use as a fishing pier; TKA! TIEBREFORE$ BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL C. TxE.',' CITY OF ALAMEDA that this Council hereby requests that the Division of Highways leave in place the south abutment on the "Old" Bay Farm Island Bridge over Can Leandro Bay, on State Highway Route 226. BE IT FURTEER RESOLVED that in consideration of the Division of Highways leaving said abutment in place, the City of Alameda shall assume full responsiblity for said abutnent and its use by the public and shall relieve the Division of Highways of all liabilities which may result from such public use. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Alameda shall install and maintain a suitable pedestrian safety railing along the edge of all portions of said abutment. RESOLVED, FURTHER, that the City of Alameda shall maintain the abutment in a presentable condition, clean and free from refuse and unsightly markings, to the satisfaction of the Division of Highways. RESOLVED, FIRTHER, that copies of this resolution be forwarded to the Division of HiFhways. I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted by the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 6th day of October, 1953, by the following vote, to wit: AYES: Councilmen Anderson, Jones, McCall, Mored and President Sweeney, (5).
