Resolution 16008CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. 16008 AMENDING THE FISCAL YEAR 2021-23 SCAPITAL BUDGET TO INCREASE REVENUES AND EXPENDITURES IN THE LITTLEJOHN PARK RECREATION CENTER REBUILD PROJECT (C55500) IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,877,686 USING $1,822,475 IN INSURANCE REIMBURSEMENT AND $55,211 IN GENERAL FUNDS WHEREAS, on June 1, 2021, the City Council adopted a budget representing the financial plan for conducting the affairs of the City of Alameda for the Fiscal Year beginning July 1, 2021 and ending June 30, 2023; and WHEREAS, the aforementioned budget included an allocation from the General Liability Internal Service Fund of $250,000 to fund the insurance deductible associated with the April 19, 2021 fire event that occurred at the Littlejohn Park Recreation Center; and WHEREAS, the City worked in partnership with the City's insurance agency and contracted architectural firm to develop design documents suitable to solicit bids for the full restoration of the facility, as well as an upgrade to its storage capacity, air filtration and WiFi interconnectivity; and WHEREAS, staff solicited and procured bids to restore the Littlejohn Recreation Center; and WHEREAS, the City's insurance carrier is responsible for the facility restoration costs of $2,072,475 Tess the $250,000 deductible, or $1,822,475, while the City is responsible for storage upgrade, air filtration and WiFi interconnectivity costs of $55,211; and WHEREAS, staff is proposing that the Littlejohn Park Recreation Center Rebuild Project (C55500) budget be adjusted to increase the revenues and expenditures in the amount of $1,877,686 for a total project budget of $2,127,686; and WHEREAS, the purpose for the budget amendment is to ensure timely payments to the awarded contractor, following which the City will be reimbursed by its insurance carrier; and WHEREAS, the Council has considered the report and recommendations of the City Manager on the budget amendments and has determined that the budget amendments are both fair and appropriate; and WHEREAS, this budget ensures that the City of Alameda has exercised prudent judgment in its fiduciary responsibility as guardian of the public tax dollars. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Alameda that the budget amendments to the City's Fiscal Year 2021-23 Capital Budget is approved, by increasing the revenues and expenditure in the Littlejohn Park Recreation Center Rebuild Project (C55500) budget by $1,877,686 using $1,822,475 in insurance reimbursement and $55,211 in General Funds.
