MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING
MONDAY- -MARCH 6, 2023- -5:30 P.M.
Mayor Ezzy Ashcraft convened the meeting at 5:33 p.m.
ROLL CALL - Present: Councilmembers Daysog, Herrera Spencer, Jensen, Vella,
and Mayor Ezzy Ashcraft – 5. [Note: Councilmember Vella
arrived at 5:45 p.m.]
Absent: None.
PUBLIC COMMENT
(23-104) Ruth Abbe, Community Action for a Sustainable Alameda, discussed sea level rise and
greenhouse gas emissions.
(23-105) Christopher Buckley, Alameda, suggested the Strategic Plan include historic
architecture, including City owned buildings, and trees.
(23-106) Tod Hickman discussed expressed support for comments regarding historic
architecture and trees and urged Council to address Spirits Alley.
(23-107) Amos White, Alameda, discussed the urban forest and tree preservation plan.
In response to Councilmember Herrera’s concern about speaking time, Mr. Hickman and Mr.
White made additional comments.
WORKSHOP
(23-108) Workshop to Develop a City of Alameda Strategic Plan
Mike King and Brittany Henry, CivicMakers, gave a Power Point presentation facilitating the
workshop and Council provided input.

A recess was called at 6:56 p.m. and the meeting was reconvened at 7:16 p.m.

Mr. King and Ms. Henry continued the presentation facilitating the workshop with Council
providing input. The next Strategic Plan workshop was scheduled for April 24, 2023.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business, Mayor Ezzy Ashcraft adjourned the meeting at 8:24 p.m.
