AMENDING THE FISCAL YEAR 2023-24 BUDGET TO INCREASE
REVENUE AND EXPENDITURE APPROPRIATIONS IN THE GRANTS
FUND (FUND 222) BY $25,000 FOR THE GUARENTEED INCOME
PILOT PROGRAM
WHEREAS, on June 20, 2023, the City Council adopted a budget representing the
financial plan for conducting the affairs of the City of Alameda for the Fiscal Year
beginning July 1, 2023, and ending June 30, 2025; and
WHEREAS, staff is proposing that Grants Fund (222) expenditure appropriations
and revenue budget for the Y&H Soda Foundation grant be increased by $25,000 to
reflect a grant award from Y&H Soda Foundation; and
WHEREAS, Y&H Soda Foundation has granted the City $25,000 to support Rise
Up Alameda, the City's Guaranteed Income Pilot Program; and
WHEREAS, staff is proposing that Grants Fund expenditure appropriations be
increased by $25,000 to reflect the grant funds from Y&H Soda Foundation for activities
related to Rise Up Alameda, the City's Guaranteed Income Pilot Program; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has considered the report and recommendations on
the proposed use of Y&H Soda Foundation funding and has determined that the proposed
uses are both fair and appropriate; and
WHEREAS, this budget amendment ensures that the City has exercised prudent
judgment in its fiduciary responsibility as guardians of the public tax dollars.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Alameda
that the budget amendment to the City's Grants Fund (Fund 222) Fiscal Year 2023-24
budget is approved to increase expenditure appropriations by $25,000 in order to provide
funding for Grants Fund activities related to Rise Up Alameda.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly
and regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the City of Alameda in a
regular meeting assembled on the 17t" day of October 2023, by the following vote
to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Herrera Spencer, Jensen, Vella and Mayor
Ezzy Ashcraft—4.
NOES: Vice Mayor Daysog — 1.
ABSENT: None.
ABSTENTIONS: None.
