AMENDING THE FISCAL YEAR 2023-24 BUDGET TO APPROPRIATE
AN ADDITIONAL $140,105 FROM THE CITY WASTE MANAGEMENT
FUND (FUND 261) AND $140,105 FROM THE INTEGRATED WASTE
FUND (FUND 262) FUND BALANCES FOR COMPLETION OF THE
ZERO WASTE IMPLEMENTATION PLAN UPDATE
WHEREAS, the City of Alameda (City) last completed an update to the Zero Waste
Implementation Plan in 2018, with a goal to achieve Zero Waste by 2020; and
WHEREAS, the City has anticipated a need to update the Zero Waste
Implementation Plan and has accumulated sufficient fund balance to budget for this
project at this time; and
WHEREAS, staff completed a competitive solicitation (Request for Proposals)
process to select a consultant to prepare the next Zero Waste Implementation Plan
Update; and
WHEREAS, staff is proposing that the City Waste Management and Integrated
Waste Fiscal Year (FY) 2023-24 budgets, within funds 261 and 262 respectively, be
adjusted as follows:

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Finance Director is hereby
authorized to amend the FY 2023-25 Biennial Budget to complete the Zero Waste
Implementation Plan Update by increasing the budgets in the City Waste Management
and Integrated Waste Funds in FY 2023-24 by $140,105 each; and
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Finance Director is
hereby authorized to appropriate $280,210 in unspent fund balance from the City Waste
Management Fund (261) and the Integrated Waste - Restricted Fund (262) fund balances
for the FY 2023-24 for the completion of the Zero Waste Implementation Plan Update.
