TUESDAY- - SEPTEMBER 4, 2001- -7:00 P.M.
Mayor /Chair Appezzato convened the Special Meeting at 7:25 p.m.
Roll Call - Present: Councilmembers /Board Members Daysog,
DeWitt, Johnson, Kerr and Mayor /Chair
Appezzato - 5.
Absent: None.
The Special Meeting was adjourned to Closed Session to consider:
(01 -459) Conference with Real Property Negotiator; Property:
Various locations throughout Alameda, including possible sites:
Alameda Point, Washington Park, Chuck Corica Golf Course, Fire
Station 2, College of Alameda, Lincoln Park, Franklin Park,
Littlejohn Park or Wind River; Negotiating Parties: City of
Alameda, Alameda Reuse and Redevelopment Authority and American
Tower Corporation; Under Negotiation: Price and terms.
Peter Lenhardt, Alameda, stated that he provided Council with
several studies regarding cell phone towers and cell phone
emissions indicating a loss of memory function upon exposure to
emissions; Council should move slowly since scientific evidence
remains unknown; other cities are denying requested for towers.
Following the Closed Session, the Special Meeting was reconvened
and Mayor Appezzato announced that the Council /Alameda Reuse and
Redevelopment Authority obtained a briefing and gave instructions
to real property negotiators.
Adjournment
There being no further business, Mayor /Chair Appezzato adjourned
the Special Meeting at 7:45 p.m.
