AND ALAMEDA REUSE AND REDEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY MEETING
WEDNESDAY- -MAY 1, 2002- -5:25 P.M.
Mayor /Chair Appezzato convened the Special Meeting at 5:25 p.m.
Roll Call - Present: Councilmembers /Board Members Daysog,
Johnson, Kerr and Mayor /Chair Appezzato -

Absent: Councilmember/ Board Member DeWitt - 1.
(02 -178) Recommendation to Execute Agreement for Assignment and
Novation of property management services between the ARRA, the City
of Alameda and Gallagher & Lindsey for certain residential
properties at Alameda Point.
Councilmember /Board Member Kerr requested staff to provide the
definition of novation.
The City Attorney /Legal Counsel responded novation is a legal term,
which means new; the City is making a new contract and getting the
City out of liability for future actions.
Councilmember /Board Member Kerr inquired whether the [existing]
contract is being canceled, to which the City Attorney /Legal
Counsel responded in the affirmative.
Councilmember /Board Member Johnson clarified a new contract was
also being created.
Councilmember /Board Member Johnson moved approval of the staff
recommendation.
Councilmember /Board Member Kerr seconded the motion, which carried
by unanimous voice vote - 4.
(02 -179) Recommendation to terminate Agreement between the City of
Alameda and the ARRA for the possession, control and maintenance of
certain residential properties at Alameda Point.
Councilmember /Board Member Kerr moved approval of the staff
recommendation.
Councilmember /Board Member Johnson seconded the motion, which
carried by unanimous voice vote - 4.

Adjournment
There being no further business, Mayor /Chair Appezzato adjourned
the Special Joint Meeting at 5:30 p.m.
