2003-08-07 Special CC MinutesMINUTES OF THE SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING THURSDAY- - AUGUST 7, 2003- -7:30 P.M. Mayor Johnson convened the Special Meeting at 7:44 p.m. Vice Mayor Daysog led the Pledge of Allegiance. Roll Call - Present: Councilmembers Daysog, Kerr, Matarrese and Mayor Johnson - 4. Absent: None. (03 -382) Interviews for City Councilmember Seat. Mayor Johnson reviewed the interview process; stated each applicant would receive 15 minutes: 10 minutes to answer the five prepared questions and 5 minutes to answer additional questions from the Council; suggested that applicants wishing to provide additional answers, provide written response by Friday, August 15. The City Council interviewed the following Councilmember applicants: G. Monetha Hatcher, Tom Pavletic, Douglas M. deHaan, Georg Oliver Washington, Jean S. Sweeney, Normajean Washington - Palmer, Lisa Piatetsky, Marilyn Ezzy Ashcraft, Luann Dee Sankey, Carrolyn Kubota. Council viewed a videotape submitted by applicant Marie Gilmore who was out of town. Applicants Stanford Boardman Wiggin and Horst Breuer were also out of town. Public Comment Kurt Peterson, Alameda, stated that he supports appointing Jean Sweeney, the third highest vote getter in the previous election. Deb Greene, Alameda, encouraged appointment of Jean Sweeney. Helena Lengel, Alameda, urged Council to select Jean Sweeney.
