TUESDAY- -JUNE 20, 2000- -6:10 P.M.
Mayor Appezzato convened the Special Meeting at 6:15 p.m.
Roll Call - Present: Councilmembers Daysog, DeWitt, Johnson,
Kerr and Mayor Appezzato - 5.
Absent: None.
The Special Meeting was adjourned to Closed Session to consider:
(00 -326) Conference with Legal Counsel - Anticipated Litigation;
Significant exposure to litigation pursuant to subdivision (b) of
Section 54956.9; Number of Cases: One.
(00 -327) Conference with Legal Counsel - Existing Litigation; Name
of Case: California Check Cashing Stores, Inc. v. City of Alameda.
(00 -328) Conference with Legal Counsel - Anticipated Litigation
Initiation of Litigation pursuant to subdivision (c) of Section
54956.9; Number of Potential Cases: Two.
(00 -329) Conference with Legal Counsel - Existing Litigation;
Name of Case: City of Alameda and Citizens League for Airport
Safety and Serenity (CLASS) v. Port of Oakland.
Following the Closed Session, the Special Meeting was reconvened
and Mayor Appezzato announced that regarding Significant exposure
to litigation, Council discussed significant exposure to litigation
on two cases and no action was taken; regarding California Check
Cashing Stores, Inc. v. City of Alameda, Council obtained a
briefing from the City Attorney on status of litigation; regarding
Initiation of Litigation, Council discussed initiation of
litigation on two cases and gave instructions to the City Attorney;
and regarding City of Alameda and Citizens League for Airport
Safety and Serenity (CLASS) v. Port of Oakland, Council discussed
litigation and gave instructions to the City Attorney.
Adjournment
There being no further business, Mayor Appezzato adjourned the
Special Meeting at 7:00 p.m.
