APPROVING A PREFERENTIAL PARKING PERMIT PROGRAM ON CENTRAL
AVENUE BETWEEN WALNUT STREET AND OAK STREET AND ON THE WEST
SIDE OF OAK STREET FROM CENTRAL AVENUE TO ALAMEDA AVENUE FOR
ALAMEDA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT (AUSD)
WHEREAS, on March 24, 1999, TAC reviewed the request and
approved the Preferential Parking Permit Program for AUSD.
WHEREAS, the program consisted of the following
conditions:
* Preferential Parking Permit consists of two types of permits.
One permit (called permanent parking permit) would be provided
to AUSD administration staff who work "permanently" at HAHS.
The other permit (called temporary parking permit) would be
provided to AUSD employees who work elsewhere, but have a
meeting or workshop at HAHS.
* Permanent parking permits would be limited to the south side
of Central Avenue between Walnut Street and Oak Street and on
the west side of Oak Street between Central Avenue and Alameda
Avenue.
* Temporary permits would be limited to the north side of
Central Avenue between Walnut Street and Oak Street.
* The program would be for a one -year trial period.
* TAC will monitor the parking impact for the first year. If
the parking impact is significant, the program would not be
extended. If the parking impact was acceptable , the program
would continue for an additional four (4) years. This would
coincide with the termination of the City leases.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of
the City of Alameda hereby approve the Preferential Parking Permit
Program as follows:
(1) For a one -year trial period,
(2) Require the TAC to monitor parking impacts during the
trial period, and
(3) Approve an automatic four (4) year extension of the
program pending a finding by the TAC that the program
does not result in a significant parking impact in the
area.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly
adopted and passed by the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on
the 18th day of May , 1999, by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Daysog, DeWitt, Johnson, Kerr and
President Appezzato - 5.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
ABSTENTIONS: None..
